The Capital Area Association of REALTORS® is the voice for real estate in the Capital Area. CAAR represents real estate licensees, as well as others with an interest in real estate, who wish to expand the professionalism of the real estate industry. CAAR provides education for its members and the public in order to enhance the image of the real estate professional and to build the knowledge base of the public.
Founded in 1921, the Association currently has approximately 700 members who are involved in virtually all aspects related to the sale, purchase, exchange or lease of real property in primarily four counties consisting of Sangamon, Menard, Christian and Macoupin. Additionally, CAAR has over 225 affiliate members (individuals and firms who are engaged in related industries).
Learn about membership information. REALTOR members of CAAR automatically belong to the Illinois Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). NAR is the largest trade association in the nation with over 1.2 million members.
The term REALTOR® is a federally registered trademark owned by the National Association of Realtors® (NAR). Not all real estate licensees are entitled to use the term REALTOR®. Only those who have joined the REALTOR® organization may use the term. REALTORS® must abide by the 17 articles of the Code of Ethics.
