SPRINGFIELD (March 16, 2006) Today the Capital Area Association of REALTORS® (CAAR) announced a $10,000 cash contribution to the American Red Cross to be designated for local disaster relief efforts.
“It is apparent that the devastation and destruction caused by the tornados that swept through our community on Sunday is much more extensive than anyone th ought initially” said CAAR President Cheryl Dambacher.
“It is also clear that the needs are great as many are left homeless and some still without power. As REALTORS® we have a vested interest in our community as well as an obligation to come to the aid of those in need. We know that this contribution represents just a portion of REALTOR® relief efforts in the community as many of our members are volunteering their labor, food, clothing and cash as well” said Dambacher.
The Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) matched CAAR's contribution with a $10,000 contribution as well. "IAR joins with th e Capital Area REALTORS® to help the many families and businesses affected by these devastating storms," said Stan Sieron, president of the IAR.
